Free Parenting Workshops

The Olympia School District is pleased to offer free child development workshops with Candyce Lund Bollinger.  Bollinger is a parent educator and private parenting counselor in Washington State and has been practicing for more than 35 years. She provides classes and consultations for schools, colleges, civic groups, private organizations and has a private practice.  She is the mother of four children and has two grandchildren.

Tuesday, October 8, 2019 - Managing your Parental Response

It's important in parenting to be responsive & intentional vs. reactive. In Managing Your Parental Responses, we will look at the old belief systems that undermine intentional parenting, and parents will be provided tools to be more effectively responding to their children's behaviors.

Wednesday, November 6, 2019 - Positive Discipline

This workshop is designed to give parents a map and techniques to facilitate healthy discipline.
 

Tuesday, January 21, 2020 - Safety Without Fear

A workshop designed for parents to help facilitate their children having self skills for personal safety, without increasing anxiety & fear in their children.   

Wednesday, March 4, 2020 - Anger

A workshop designed to help parents understand danger, as well as learn tools to manage anger in themselves and their children.

Tuesday, September 24, 2019- Managing Your Parental Response

Tuesday, October 22, 2019 - Developmentally Appropriate Expectations/Ages 11-19

Understanding brain development at any age is crucial for positive communication and relationship with a child. This workshop will give parents and educators information about teen development.

Wednesday, January 8, 2020 - Positive Constructive Communication with Teens

A workshop designed to teach practical skill building techniques to help create more effective communication between parents and their children. Positive communication will be emphasized, and guidance techniques including engaging children's cooperation, interpreting emotional and behavioral development and implementing alternatives to punishment.

Wednesday, February 5, 2020 - Effective Communication

This workshop is designed to give parents the basic philosophy of discipline and a toolbox of techniques to work with to support positive teen discipline.

A workshop designed for parents in regards on questions and topics around relationships and sexuality.

Workshops are free and no registration is required.
