Some Classrooms Impacted by Curriculum Delays

Olympia School District has been experiencing delays to some classrooms accessing curricular resources. In these classrooms, teachers are supporting student learning of Washington State Learning Standards (WSLSs) through alternative resources, digital access to curriculum, and/or printed versions of curricular resources. We apologize for any inconvenience this has on staff, students and families.

Who's impacted?

Most concerns have been resolved.

  •  A few classrooms at a handful of elementary schools -- Lincoln, McLane and Pioneer elementary schools -- have been impacted.
  • Olympia High School math teachers and our Avanti High School math teacher were impacted, though all materials are now on-site. The shipping vendor included notes that unexpected incidents caused service delays.

Is this exclusively a vendor issue?

No. Some of the backlog resulted from delayed ordering in Summer 2021 when new administration came into the Teaching & Learning Team and was under the impression a Curriculum Management Plan was in place; since that time, the new team has been provided the opportunity to learn from OSD educators and vendors, conduct a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) Analysis, document lessons learned, and begin developing action steps to establish a Curriculum Management Plan.
