Transportation Field Trip Request

To be able to use TripFinder and submit field trip requests, staff need to contact a Transportation Dispatcher to have a login created for them in the system and appropriate permissions assigned to their account. Please email trans_dispatch@osd.wednet.edu or call (360) 596-7700 to have your account created.

How to Estimate Field Trip Costs

How much will my field trip cost (bus)? As an example; a trip to Point Defiance Zoo in Tacoma, WA.

  • Transportation to School to Destination to School to Transportation.

    EXAMPLE - McLane ES to Point Defiance Zoo.

    1. Mileage from Transportation to School - 3
    2. Mileage from School to Destination - 39
    3. Mileage from Destination back to School - 39
    4. Mileage from School back to Transportation - 3
    5. Total Mileage = 84 x $1.26 per mile - $105.84

    1. Depart Transportation (½ hour before needs to be at school - 8:45 a.m.
    2. Depart School - 9:15 a.m.
    3. Depart Destination (Zoo) - 12:45 p.m.
    4. Driver arrives back to Transportation - 2 p.m.
    5. Total Driver Hours - 5.25
    6.  Total Cost for Driver Time (If under 8 hours at $45.62) - $239.51
      • (If over 8 hours at $68.43 OT) - $0.00
    7. Total Estimated Cost of Field Trip $345.35 (105.84 + 239.51)
