On September 28, 2023, the Olympia School Board approved a charter calling for the creation of a School Safety Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). The committee is projected to meet throughout October 2023. Its purpose is two-fold:
- To assist the superintendent in crafting procedures to accompany Policy 4311 that will guide and inform any formal partnership with the school district and the City of Olympia.
- To assist the superintendent in crafting a draft Memorandum of Understanding to serve as the springboard for any negotiation between the district and the City of Olympia for any future school/external staff.
