Congratulations to Capital High School junior Chris Penner! He recently received the South Sound Conference (SSC) Scholar Athlete Award. This award is given to one male and one female athlete at the end of the fall, winter and spring sports seasons.
Penner has maintained a 4.0 GPA during his first three years at Capital while being a two-sport athlete. In those three years, Penner has received two varsity letters in football and three varsity letters in basketball. In basketball, Chris has been selected to the 1st Team All-League twice (SSC and Narrows League), 1st Team All Area and selected to play in the SSC vs Pierce County League (PCL) All Star game twice. Chris has set 2 new basketball school records.
“We are looking forward to having Chris back as a senior and watching him continue to represent the Cougars at the highest level” said Capital Athletic Director Steve Taylor.
