Flags lowered to half-staff September 11
Governor Inslee hereby directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agencies, including schools and support buildings, be lowered to half-staff on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, for national Patriot Day, the annual memorial to the victims of the 2001 tragedy. Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on September 11, 2019.

Snow over the Capital in Olympia
Winter Break schedule
All Olympia School District schools will be closed for Winter Break from Monday, December 23, 2019 through Friday, January 3, 2020. Classes resume on Monday, January 6. During Winter Break, the district administrative offices will be open December 27. They will also be open January 2-3. Otherwise the Knox 111 building will be closed until Monday, January 6.

Governor Inslee hereby directs that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities, including schools and support buildings, be lowered to half-staff Saturday, December 7, 2019, for National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. The Governor’s Office has no objection to agencies lowering the flags at the close of business on Friday, December 6, 2019. Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on Saturday, December 7, or first thing Monday morning, December 9.

The Knox Administrative Center's summer office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Our doors will be locked for the day at 3 p.m. on the days we are open. If you wish to enter the building after 3 p.m., please call (360) 596-6100. The building is located at 111 Bethel St. Olympia. This summer office schedule begins Monday, June 24, 2019 and ends Friday, August 23, 2019.

WA State Patrol to hold training on February 18
The Washington State Patrol will conduct an active shooter and reality-based training exercise on Tuesday, February 18, from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. at the old John Rogers School building. This is a routine in-service training for Washington State Patrol. The building, used for district storage, will be closed with signs posted around the property notifying people that the training is underway. Neighbors and motorists passing by may notice some State Patrol vehicles parked at the building, located at 2001 26th Ave. N.E. in Olympia.

Flags at half-staff
Flags lowered to half-staff August 5-8
Pursuant to a Presidential Proclamation, Acting Gov. Cyrus Habib has directed that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities, including schools and support buildings, be lowered to half-staff immediately, in memory of the victims of the tragedy in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio. Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on Thursday, August 8, 2019.

Ballots for the November 5, 2019 General Election have been sent to registered voters and must be mailed or dropped off in postage-free ballot drop boxes by Election Day to be counted. Ballot drop boxes are open 24 hours a day during elections and will continue to accept ballots until 8 p.m. on Election Day. For a list of drop box locations in the Olympia School District, visit the Thurston County Auditor’s Office Elections Division website.

Dedication at McLane Elementary School
Dedications celebrate remodeled elementary schools
Hundreds of students, staff, families and community members gathered in January to celebrate the opening of the newly remodeled Centennial, McLane and Roosevelt elementary schools. Dedication events at each school featured highlights including a ceremonial ribbon cutting, self-guided tours of new learning spaces, and speeches celebrating each school’s past, present and future.
